Abi & Jonnys big day was a real Welsh windy wedding. With gale force winds and severe weather warnings their dream of a tipi wedding at Southwood Farm in Newgale, Pembrokeshire came crashing down two days before the big day. Being told by the company they were not allowed to put the tipi’s up, support from the locals and from Southwood Farm flooded in and they were offered the local Roch village hall instead. Full to the brim with hay bails, fairy lights and bunting it was a beautiful, happy and fun day for all.

Bridal prep is always one of my favourite parts of the day, capturing the pre wedding nerves and excitement. With my documentary style of photography I take a step back, sink into the background and really capture the day as it happens. Abi’s hair was done by good friend Christel Pontin and make up by another friend and fellow midwife Kelly Shari!

I loved the flowers at this wedding, such gorgeous colours which went so well with the bridesmaid dress’s. They were picked out by Abi’s mum and her friend Nickie Gillies who put them together. Her unique and simple lace dress was from the brides of winchester.

The ceremony was held at the Emmanual Christian Centre in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire where Jonny was eagerly awaiting to see his beautiful bride. Jonny’s suit jacket was Jeff Banks which they got from Debenhams paired the jazziest floral tie and Chinos from Next . The Buttonholes and head dresses were handmade by both mothers and the venue flowers were done by Abi’s dad and herself frantically on the morning of the wedding!

Jonny and Abi used wellies that they found on the beach and an old bike wheel to display the flowers. They also used a picnic basket of Abi’s Mums as they love a good picnic date!

Although we had gale force winds to deal with Abi and Jonny still wanted to do a quick stop off at their favourite beach Newgale in Pembrokeshire. We were all more than happy to put on our wellies and face the weather which on the South Welsh coast is especially breezy! I absolutely love the photographs, I always get a mixture of posed and natural photographs throughout the day but natural smiles and laughter is the best.

It was then onto Roch village hall for the reception, lit with fairy lights and filled with hay bails and bunting it felt like a real homely wedding. The wedding cake was made by Abi’s talented mum Rachel Chapman, naked cakes are so in style at the moment with weddings and I totally get why, simplistic and beautiful.

After the gorgeous vegetarian food (yummmmm) which was done by Southwood Farm, the speech’s and the cutting of the cake there was a Ceiligh band which got everybody up and dancing! One of my favourite photos from this day is Abi and her dad sharing an emotional hug, a photograph can hold so many feelings and memories and it’s a blessing for me to be able to capture them for my couples.
